Welcome to The Honest Twenty-Something.

Typically on blogs the 'about' section is a place to try and impress all you lovely first time readers with awesome facts about myself, only... to be honest, I'm not that interesting.

I'm Olivia, but you can call me Olive if you like. I'm twenty-two years old and I was born in Perth, Australia.

Awesome you say? Awesome for some, but for an anxiety ridden, thalassophobic (that's a fear of large bodies of water; ie the beaches which Australia seems to be famous for), sometimes slightly depressed person, it's not so awesome.

As a twenty-something woman, just trying to find a place in life, the world can be a pretty complicated place, especially when life thus far hasn't exactly gone according to the plans I lay out as an eager 13 year old, just wanting to be an adult already and take on the world.

I wish I could go back to 13-year-old me and advise myself to enjoy my childhood and teenage years and that adulthood is not all I thought it was going to be.

Oh, the beauty of hindsight.

Plans change, so do people, and along the way it almost feels like slowly but surely, pieces of you are being ripped away, sometimes in the cruelest ways possible. But I've come to learn that no matter how much it hurt at the time, it's all going to be ok, and furthermore, I am going to be ok.
Life is about living, and learning. It's about taking your crappy experiences and becoming a better person because of them.

Everyday I'm living and learning to accept and embrace life as it comes and open my mind to things I never even thought would be remotely possible.

This blog is a mixture of a bit of everything, but mainly it's to document my personal experiences in the hope of helping other twenty-somethings out there like me who might need a little advice, guidance or just to know that they're not alone.

I hope you enjoy reading through my ramblings as much as I enjoy writing them.
